When your helicopter touches down on the Norris Glacier, get out and explore the ancient landscape with your pilot as your guide. Peer down into a crevasse or watch for a glacial stream that suddenly emerges and then disappears beneath the icy surface. And, as you fly over the hills surrounding Juneau on your return trip, watch for bears, mountain goats and moose.

Juneau Fly via floatplane past five breathtaking glaciers in the scenic Taku River valley and enjoy a salmon bake at a mountain lodge.
As your floatplane flies to Taku Lodge, you pass The Nunatak - gigantic rock sentries guarding the passes.
When your plane touches down on the Taku River, you're welcomed at the world - famous Taku Lodge for a salmon banquet cooked on an outdoor alderwood fire. Enjoy your all-you-can-eat meal in the shadow of Hole-in-the-Wall Glacier, or in the lodge beside a crackling fire amidst hunting and trapping gear.
Before flying back to Juneau, take a short walk through the pristine rain forest to see eagle nests or an occasional black bear.

As the plane descends over the canyons behind Juneau, view the town and its harbor. Your excursion concludes with a thrilling water landing.

NOTE: Due to the unique weather patterns of southeast Alaska, it may be necessary to alter the flight path.

Juneau Helicopter Glacier Hike ~

This exhilarating excursion offers two unique Alaska adventures, helicopter flightseeing and glacier hiking.

Before your flight, you'll be briefed and outfitted in warm outwear, hard-shell boots, crampons and an ice axe.

En route, you'll gain a greater understanding of the region's beauty and mystique. Upon landing, professional mountaineering guides teach you basic skills and proper use of your equipment before you explore the ever-changing terrain.Guidee will explain the area's geology and identify many glacier features.

In addition to excellent fishing opportunities, wildlife sightings are common.
NOTE: Warm clothing and sunglasses are recommended. Due to weight and balance limitations, as well as passenger safety and comfort, passengers weighing 250 pounds or more will be charged additional (½ fare) to reserve extra space onboard the helicopter. Participants need to be in good physical condition and able to hike two miles. Children must be at least 12 years old and children 16 years old and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Before your flight, you'll be briefed and outfitted for your adventure. Lift off over lush rain forests and high alpine meadows to the glacial terrain beyond.
Juneau Icefalls, deep blue crevasses, snowfields and jagged granite peaks dominate the landscape. Mid-flight, your pilot will select a landing site, enabling you to examine the glacier more closely.
NOTE: Dressing in layers and sunglasses are recommended. A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 12.
